OUR STORY

5 wks, 15 dogs, 5000 miles, 3 guys crazy enough...

Flashback 5 yrs ago, Tucson: a stray came wandering into the back yard, found a lady friend, started a family. The family kept growing until there were 20. Somewhere along the way a dream to have them race the Iditarod...

Flashforward, Present day, Alaska: The race was never raced, the family's double the size and the winters too harsh, this is where we come in. Driving them from Alaska through the lower 48, finding them good homes along the way.

2 DAYS IN LOS ANGELES

With 2 days left in Los Angeles it's go time. A few (lots) last minute preparations and we're off to Anchorage for the beginning of a long journey through Alaska into Canada and the continental US.

First I should probably introduce myself. Jeremiah, otherwise known as J.RA. I'll be doing most of the shooting using a Canon XH-A1s and a 5D Mark II. We also have a GoPro HD mini camera that we can attach virtually anywhere including the dogs to get some good POV shots. Along with shooting my functions include keeping us on schedule (trying to), helping out with the dogs, chef/kitchen aid (we don't have a kitchen), french translator, blogger, in house video editor & dj, life coach, medicine man, and last but not least, fashionista. My sanity or lack thereof will be tested. That I know. How or when is the adventure that lies ahead.

My background as a tour manager and videographer will certainly be helpful on this journey, along with my extensive travels across the continents, my week at Burning Man last year, and my love for new experiences, but nothing will be quite like this, whatever this becomes.

The three of us will be blogging, Aaron will be tweeting, twittering, or whatever the hell you call it, and Elijah will be photographing our daily portraits which we will upload to the blog as often as the internet or lack thereof permits.

Look for our bi weekly video blogs, daily confessionals, random thoughts, Goodfarm brother freestyles, and various bets on who will lose his mind first, how much weight we'll all lose, who will go the longest without bathing (self declared loser), and if this trip will lead me to drinking again after 9 weeks of complete sobriety, the longest I've been without mind altering substances (other than food, yes, food is a mind altering substance) since I first got high when I was 16.

16 years later I'm apparently ready for 5 weeks, 15 dogs, and some 5000 miles of road: From sleeping under the stars in pristine wilderness, pitching tents in Wal Mart parking lots, to saying enough is enough and getting a hotel room once in a while (yes, it will be me insisting it's time to take a nice hot shower and do some laundry), this is going to be like nothing I've ever done or even considered doing before which is why I'm doing it. It's late, need some sleep before the cameras arrive tomorrow morning. Here's a photo so you can put a face to my voice in case you don't know me.
