OUR STORY

5 wks, 15 dogs, 5000 miles, 3 guys crazy enough...

Flashback 5 yrs ago, Tucson: a stray came wandering into the back yard, found a lady friend, started a family. The family kept growing until there were 20. Somewhere along the way a dream to have them race the Iditarod...

Flashforward, Present day, Alaska: The race was never raced, the family's double the size and the winters too harsh, this is where we come in. Driving them from Alaska through the lower 48, finding them good homes along the way.

POST SCRIPTUM

Elijah changed the blog layout and colors and it looks retarded. Let's see how the battle to get it back to normal will go.

JEREMIAH'S HOROSCOPE

Your interests and the desires of your mate or friends are likely to be totally different today. Unless you agree to some kind of compromise, you could end up going it alone.

ELIJAH'S HOROSCOPE

Take care that you don't come off appearing to be too bossy, or you could end up with a small rebellion on your hands. Exercise all that wonderful tact and diplomacy for which you are famous.

DOG LOVE

WHAT TO DO?

Over 3 weeks in, 1 in Los Angeles, and 2 in Alaska, and we still have all 40 dogs. Working on an exit strategy. Called a bunch of organizations today, some helpful, some not. The stress and lack of sleep is getting to everyone. Most difficult shoot I've ever been on. Lack of comfort, all these dogs, 20 hour days of intermittent rain and having no luck finding them homes all while filming when possible is simply stressful.

I'm ready for a tropical vacation.

Dog Sledding

Here is a little diddy I edited of the Good-Farms at the height of their Dog Sledding Careers.

JULY 4TH

EARLY MORNING PHOTOS

On our way to Seward to film some of the Mount Marathon Race and
hopefully find homes for some of the 5 dogs we took with us. Took the
1 to the 9 from Girdwood at 5am. One of those drives you could stop at
any turn and be in awe of the natural beauty. I have a feeling a lot of
Alaska is going to be like that. Elijah will be posting some of his pics
in the coming days, for now it's all iPhone.

SIGHTING

11:08 pm, Girdwood: First black bear just strolling through someones
back yard. Reaction time much too slow for a pic. Off to Forest Fair,
some sort of festival, looks like a hippie rave to me.

Turned out to be a baby Burning Man. Decided sleep was best for me. Goodfarm brothers woke me at 4am to drive to Seward. Lovely drive.

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

Elijah thinks we should hitchhike from Anchorage to Willow when we get
in at 1am. Good thing we only have 9 bags, over 10 thousand dollars of
photo and video equipment and it's raining for the next week straight.

ITINERARY

More or less the first few weeks of our adventure.

Here We Go Again.

Hey Yall. It is I, The younger of the Two Remaining G-Farms. We have come along way from the days of Italian Ices, B-Ball and playing in Fire Hydrants during the Humid New York City Summers. I made my way out to Cali in 2003 and have been Producing Music ever since. Most recently completing an album with long time Jazz Bassist Sekou Bunch "The Next Level".
Our Father Passed away about a year ago while caring for a Family of Stray dogs. Over the last few years I have developed close personal relationships with all the dogs which only adds to the pressure of the task that lay ahead. We have committed to packing up about fifteen of the most well behaved dogs on a journey to find them loving homes in the Lower 48 states. This is going to be a grueling adventure that will no doubt test the limits of our sanity, so make sure to follow along as we will be posting regular video and trivia from our journey. Also if you would like to be a part of this film please contact us because we are looking for some Heroes to help save the day. Lots of Love,
-ACWGF

2 DAYS IN LOS ANGELES

With 2 days left in Los Angeles it's go time. A few (lots) last minute preparations and we're off to Anchorage for the beginning of a long journey through Alaska into Canada and the continental US.

First I should probably introduce myself. Jeremiah, otherwise known as J.RA. I'll be doing most of the shooting using a Canon XH-A1s and a 5D Mark II. We also have a GoPro HD mini camera that we can attach virtually anywhere including the dogs to get some good POV shots. Along with shooting my functions include keeping us on schedule (trying to), helping out with the dogs, chef/kitchen aid (we don't have a kitchen), french translator, blogger, in house video editor & dj, life coach, medicine man, and last but not least, fashionista. My sanity or lack thereof will be tested. That I know. How or when is the adventure that lies ahead.

My background as a tour manager and videographer will certainly be helpful on this journey, along with my extensive travels across the continents, my week at Burning Man last year, and my love for new experiences, but nothing will be quite like this, whatever this becomes.

The three of us will be blogging, Aaron will be tweeting, twittering, or whatever the hell you call it, and Elijah will be photographing our daily portraits which we will upload to the blog as often as the internet or lack thereof permits.

Look for our bi weekly video blogs, daily confessionals, random thoughts, Goodfarm brother freestyles, and various bets on who will lose his mind first, how much weight we'll all lose, who will go the longest without bathing (self declared loser), and if this trip will lead me to drinking again after 9 weeks of complete sobriety, the longest I've been without mind altering substances (other than food, yes, food is a mind altering substance) since I first got high when I was 16.

16 years later I'm apparently ready for 5 weeks, 15 dogs, and some 5000 miles of road: From sleeping under the stars in pristine wilderness, pitching tents in Wal Mart parking lots, to saying enough is enough and getting a hotel room once in a while (yes, it will be me insisting it's time to take a nice hot shower and do some laundry), this is going to be like nothing I've ever done or even considered doing before which is why I'm doing it. It's late, need some sleep before the cameras arrive tomorrow morning. Here's a photo so you can put a face to my voice in case you don't know me.

Preparing for our journey

Hi it has been a long time since my last post the dogs have made a lot of progress and the summer is in full swing. I am in LA making preparations to return to Alaska with my brother and a friend. We will then pack up the dog truck with 15-18 dogs and hit the road. Our final destination will be Santa Fe New Mexico and our mission is to find great homes for the dogs along the way. It will be quite an adventure and you can follow it all right hear.
